Percentage of Project Backed
About 16 months ago Murad Sobay went on a 12-hour graffiti campaign across Lebanon to address several political issues in the nation at the time. We will follow him back to the sites of the artwork and see what remains of each piece and assess the changes to the conflicts each work of art portrays. During this campaign, he encouraged participation in his work through social media as well as collaborative art. We will see how that influenced the campaign and the art he makes now.
Episode Summary
In the wake of the attack on Charlie Hebdo cartoonists on January 7th the influence of art is a poignant question. I want to show viewers how street art can be an outlet for positive change even when access to press and literacy is limited. Through showing artists like Murad who persevere through society’s risks we can inspire more budding talents to paint their messages.
